Fabric Softener for Washing Your Pet Bed Covers

Essential Oil Fabric Softener and Dry Sheet Tips

Here is my tried and true fabric softener recipe to use when washing your DoggieDuvie sheets.

I like to put this mixture in my fabric softener comparment in the washer so it comes out during the rinse cycle.

By adding a touch of lavender essential oils - it makes the DoggieDuvie smell amazingly fresh and clean. Also, Lavender is known for it's calming ability so let's hope this also helps your pet sleep better.

When I put my freshly washed DoggieDuvie's on my pet's beds, they always sniff them before laying down. I think they like it!  :)

Recipe

1/3 cup vinegar

1 Tbsp. Baking Soda

5-10 drops lavender essential oil

Mix all ingredients together in a measuring cup and pour into the fabric softener container of your washing machine.

Use a big cup because once you add the baking soda to the vinegar, the mixture foams up and will spill all over if your container isn't very large. (that's what happened to me)

I keep all the ingredients in a basket in my laundry room so they are handy for me to use.

It is ideal for this solution to be dispersed during the rinse cycle.  If you don't have a fabric softener container, you could probably pour it in the washer during the rinse cycle.

Your Duvie will come out of the wash fresh and clean with no more nasty odors and smells.

For additional wonderful lavender or other pet friendly scents, pour a few drops onto a dryer sheet and put it in the dryer with your Doggie Duvies. Adding a few drops of lavender essential oil to a couple wool dyer balls also work amazing. Just put a few drops of the scent right on the wool ball and throw it in the dryer with your Doggie Duvie sheets. They will come out smelling amazing!
